They emigrated from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/dir\/Nesna,+8700,+Norway\/\/@66.1981437,12.8533818,11z\/data=!4m9!4m8!1m5!1m1!1s0x467506efadd4db0b:0xa4ed304ba3f533d0!2m2!1d13.0181848!2d66.1980927!1m0!3e0?entry=ttu\">Nesna, Nordland, Norway<\/a> to the United States (Hans in 1903, Inger Helene in 1904) and settled in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/Verona,+ND+58490\/@46.3607539,-98.0838672,15z\/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x52ce25387b95faaf:0xf09151e12ad7ebc0!8m2!3d46.3648836!4d-98.0721681!16zL20vMHlwZHY?entry=ttu\">Verona, La Moure County, North Dakota<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Inger Helene was committed to the State Hospital for the Insane in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/dir\/Verona,+North+Dakota+58490\/Jamestown,+ND\/@46.6395261,-98.7251552,10z\/data=!3m1!4b1!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x52ce25387b95faaf:0xf09151e12ad7ebc0!2m2!1d-98.0721681!2d46.3648836!1m5!1m1!1s0x52d0130b50e588d1:0xbece7efaccd8b57!2m2!1d-98.7084357!2d46.9105438!3e0?entry=ttu\">Jamestown<\/a> on August 13, 1915 (See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rayson.us\/aehanson\/genealogy\/paternal\/inger-helene-andersdatter\/\">Inger Helene Andersdatter<\/a> for the full story) at the age of 58. The Warrant of Admission document at Jamestown was signed by her daughter, Olina Johanna Hansdatter (known as Lena). Inger Helene would remain institutionalized for 13 years and 6 months until her death on February 23, 1929 .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There appears to have been some consternation in the family about the incarceration of Inger Helene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn an interview with Leatrice Voss [Leatrice Mae Hegardt Voss (daughter of Olina Johanna Hansdatter) and a granddaughter of Inger Helene] she said \u201cShe does not remember anything about Inger\u2026 Said that both Dena and Petra [two other daughters of Inger Helene] believed that she didn\u2019t belong in the hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n<cite>August 10, 2005 email from a great-granddaughter of Inger Helene<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She is buried in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/dir\/Riverside+Cemetery+Association,+2102+5th+St+S,+Fargo,+ND+58103\/\/@46.846521,-96.8681624,12z\/data=!4m9!4m8!1m5!1m1!1s0x52c8cea7b2046177:0x8dc9822f7974fde!2m2!1d-96.7857616!2d46.8464332!1m0!3e0?entry=ttu\">Riverside Cemetery in in Fargo, ND<\/a> (2102 5th Street South, Fargo ND 58103, phone number 701-235-2671).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A close examination of the records related to her death and burial reveal an intriguing question: who paid for the burial?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the Funeral Home Records (Hanson Funeral Home in Fargo):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Informant: Hans Isakson, West Fargo<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Answer to &#8220;Have you suitable clothing?&#8221; &#8211; Answer: &#8220;No&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have you a Cemetery Lot? \u201cNo\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The burial information in the Riverside Cemetery book lists \u201cMrs. L. She lived Verona, La Moure County at the time of the 1910 and 1920 US Census although, according to Inger Helene&#8217;s obituary, she was living in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/dir\/Verona,+North+Dakota+58490\/Lakefield,+Jackson+County,+Minnesota\/@44.958722,-99.2708151,7z\/data=!3m1!4b1!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x52ce25387b95faaf:0xf09151e12ad7ebc0!2m2!1d-98.0721681!2d46.3648836!1m5!1m1!1s0x878b562688d98887:0xbdedf8a707a735b1!2m2!1d-95.1716615!2d43.6774593!3e0?entry=ttu\">Lakefield, Jackson County, Minnesota<\/a> at the time of death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I contacted the cemetery, and reached out to a cousin who was in the area, in 2008 without sucess:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are still anywhere near Fargo there is one huge favor you could do for me\u2026 I would dearly love to know who purchased the plot for Inger Marie (as well as information about who purchased the plot for Ragnvold and Lena Hanson) and when for both. I\u2019ve left voice mail and sent a letter to the cemetery association but have never received a response\u2026<\/p>\n<cite>13 October 2008 to a 2nd cousin<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I contacted the Riverside Cemetery in 2016 to see if they had records indicating who purchased the plot for Inger Helene. They indicated that the area of the cemetery where she is buried was purchased one lot at a time and, consequently, no plot deeds were issued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is another intriguing possibility. The plots in this section of the cemetery are chronological \u2013 except for the plot next to Integer Helene. She was buried in 1929. Hanson\u201d listed as the closest friend of Inger Helene in 1929? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI talked with Patsy [probably Patricia Rae Ness, daughter of Petra Necholena Hanson, daughter of Inger Helene] this morning about Inger.&nbsp; She also said how sad Grandma [Petra Necholena Hanson] was about her mother, Inger.&nbsp; Petra used to say that she would pray to forgive and understand Lena [Olina Johanna Hansdatter, her sister] for what she did with their mother.&nbsp; Patsy said that Petra was apprehensive when Lena came around.&nbsp; Petra told her that Lena misrepresented Inger and was not truthful about her, I&#8217;m assuming when she committed her.&nbsp; <strong><em>She also said that a woman came to Grandma [Petra Necholena Hanson<\/em><\/strong>]<strong><em> when her mother was in the state hospital.&nbsp; Said she was either a patient there herself, or worked there.&nbsp; She came because she thought so much of Inger and wanted to help, said she was being mistreated.&nbsp; After hearing this, I began to think that maybe this woman&#8217;s name was Lena.&nbsp; The Lena that is buried by her<\/em><\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<cite>August 8, 2005 email from the same great-granddaughter (emphasis mine)<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why was Lena Hanson involved in the burial of Inger Helene Andersdatter? Was she, or was her husband (Ragnvold Hanson), a distant relative, or a caring neighbor?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hans Ingvald Ragnvald Carlsen Hanson<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hans Ingvald Ragnvald Carlsen Hanson was born in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/dir\/Oslo,+Norway\/\/@59.9139292,10.6698454,12z\/data=!4m9!4m8!1m5!1m1!1s0x46416e61f267f039:0x7e92605fd3231e9a!2m2!1d10.7522454!2d59.9138688!1m0!3e0?entry=ttu\">Oslo, Norway<\/a> on 29 Dec 1880. He was enumerated there on the 1900 Norwegian Census. [Year: 1910; Census Place: Flowing, Clay, Minnesota; Roll: T624_693; Page: 3b; Enumeration District: 0051; FHL microfilm: 1374706].<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ragnvald is enumerated on the 1910 Census living as a Roomer in Fargo. It appears that they got married, emigrated to Canada in 1912 and settled in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/dir\/Maple+Creek,+Saskatchewan,+Canada\/\/@49.8169322,-109.7277129,10z\/data=!4m9!4m8!1m5!1m1!1s0x53139b97bd4c398b:0x3c074fdf02e93c51!2m2!1d-109.480174!2d49.906595!1m0!3e0?entry=ttu\">Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, Canada<\/a>. They are enumerated there in the 1921 and 1931 Canadian census, and are documented entering the United States in 8 September 1942 to visit his brother in law [John Lee living in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/dir\/Ashby,+Minnesota+56309\/\/@46.9825855,-99.7740046,7z\/data=!4m9!4m8!1m5!1m1!1s0x52c987b660d8a0f1:0xbf2890ae1c4d4800!2m2!1d-95.8175498!2d46.093016!1m0!3e0?entry=ttu\">Ashby Minnesota<\/a>] for 29 days. Lena gave birth to their first child 6 months later (on January 12, 1913).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lena Hanson<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Karoline Petrine Hansdatter (Lena) was also born on 07 January 1883 to Hans Martinussen and Ane Marie Kristine Knutsdatter in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/dir\/Molde,+Norway\/\/@62.7403136,7.0984247,12z\/data=!4m9!4m8!1m5!1m1!1s0x4611541dd7c6c259:0x92051488f8de33f4!2m2!1d7.1808245!2d62.7402591!1m0!3e0?entry=ttu\">Molde, M\u00f8re og Romsdal, Norway<\/a>. She was enumerated on the 1891 Norwegian census living with her parents and again in 1900 working as a servant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1906<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She emigrated with her sister Klara (born 1889) to the United States in October 1906, just a few years after Inger Helene Andersdatter arrived (1904). They departed Norway on 03 October, sailed to Hull, England, departed Liverpool on 10 October on the Baltic, and arrived at Ellis Island in New York on 10 October. According to the ships manifest, they were traveling to Barnes, North Dakota to see a friend, John Olson (Box 118, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/dir\/Kathryn,+North+Dakota+58049\/\/@46.67989,-98.050951,12z\/data=!4m9!4m8!1m5!1m1!1s0x52cfc8224590ea3f:0xa940dfb061d467e3!2m2!1d-97.9685502!2d46.6798018!1m0!3e0?entry=ttu\">Kathryn, Barnes, North Dakota<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is of interest: Kathryn is near Fort Ransom (15 miles to the south), the home of Benjamin Isakson, Hans&#8217; younger brother (see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rayson.us\/aehanson\/benjamin-isakson-a-biographical-sketch\/\">Benjamin Isakson: A Biographical Sketch<\/a>). Brown, he died on Oct 16, 1937 he was buried on Oct 18, 1937 by M. Moore undertakers in grave 2, row 91 .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1940<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lena was enumerated as the Head of the Household on the 1940 US Census. Three daughters were living with her: Edna (Age 21), Helen (Age 20) and Norma (age 16). I believe that I have found her death certificate showing the exact date of death to be 15 August 1977:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The name on the death certificate is &#8220;Lena Hanson&#8221;.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The place of death was Kirkland, King, Washington.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The informant on her death certificate was Norma Odegard\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lena has a daughter (Norma Carol) who was married to Norman Konrad Odegard.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Of note: Lena\u2019s country of birth was reported (incorrectly, I believe) to be the United States.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is known about Lena<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To summarize the information about Lena that can be obtained from the available records:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Birth Date: 07 January 1883<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>While the year of her birth in inconclusive in Ragnvald&#8217;s declaration for U.S. citizenship, the US Census records consistently indicate that the year of her birth was 1883. This is confirmed in her Social Security application. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ragnvald&#8217;s declaration for U.S. citizenship and her Social Security application both state the she was born on January 7th.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Her birth record from Norway confirms that she was born on 07 January 1883.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Birth Place: Molde, M\u00f8re og Romsdal, Norway<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All records indicate that she was born in Norway.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ragnvald&#8217;s declaration for U.S. citizenship states that she was born in Molde, Norway.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The place of birth on her Social Security application appears to be &#8220;Ramsdalen&#8221;.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Her birth record from Norway confirms that she was born in Molde, M\u00f8re og Romsdal, Norway.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Google Maps identifies one town named &#8220;Molde&#8221; in Norway (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/Molde,+Norway\/@62.7648543,9.2801263,8z\/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x4611541dd7c6c259:0x92051488f8de33f4!8m2!3d62.7402591!4d7.1808245!16zL20vMGIyOXk?entry=ttu\">View on Google Maps<\/a>), located approximately 136 miles (218 kM) southwest of Trondheim, Norway.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>According to Wikipedia:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Molde<\/strong>&nbsp;(Norwegian pronunciation:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Help:IPA\/Norwegian\">[\u02c8m\u0254\u0302\u026bd\u0259]<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/transcoded\/f\/f3\/Molde.ogg\/Molde.ogg.mp3\"><\/a><sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/File:Molde.ogg\">\u24d8<\/a><\/sup>) is a town and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_municipalities_of_Norway\">municipality<\/a>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/M%C3%B8re_og_Romsdal\">M\u00f8re og Romsdal<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Counties_of_Norway\">county<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Norway\">Norway<\/a>. It is located on the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Romsdal_Peninsula\">Romsdal Peninsula<\/a>, surrounding the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fannefjord\">Fannefjord<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Moldefjord\">Moldefjord<\/a>.<\/p>\n<cite><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Molde\">https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Molde<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Emigration: Entered New York, New York October 1906<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The information provided on Ragnvald&#8217;s declaration for U.S. citizenship (New York, October 1906) appears to be the most authoritative, although no manifest has yet been found so the year is questionable.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It agrees with the date specified on the 1930 Census (1906).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is close to what was specified on the 1920 Census (1908).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It conform even closer to what was specified on the 1910 census (1907).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Norwegian records confirm that she left Norway, traveling to North Dakota, in October 1906.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Date of Marriage to Ragnvold: July 30<sup>th<\/sup>, 1912 in Fargo<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The date of her marriage to Ragnvald (July 30<sup>th<\/sup>, 1912 in Fargo) is documented in Ragnvald&#8217;s declaration for U.S. citizenship.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As noted above, I believe Ragnvold had a previous marriage. However, his response to the &#8220;Year of 1st Marriage&#8221;  question on his 1930 US Census (31, which translates to 1911) does not reflect this fact. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What was the connection?<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lena, Ragnvold and Inger Helene came from different parts of Norway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It is doubtful if they met in Norway.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They do not appear to be related.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They all traveled to the United States as different times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rayson.us\/aehanson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Norway-Locations.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"472\" height=\"605\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rayson.us\/aehanson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Norway-Locations.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3379\" style=\"width:325px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rayson.us\/aehanson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Norway-Locations.jpg 472w, https:\/\/www.rayson.us\/aehanson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Norway-Locations-234x300.jpg 234w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 472px) 100vw, 472px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Inger Helene was living in Verona (~100 miles to the Southwest of Fargo) according to the 1910 census, and that was where she was living at the time of her commitment in 1915.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lena appears to have lived in Fargo from 1910 through (at least) 1950. \n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>She does not appear to have been committed to the State Hospital at any point in her life.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is possible that she was employed at the hospital sometime between her arrival at Kathryn in 1906 and 1910 (when she appears to be living in Fargo), but this is well before Inger Helene was committed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hans was living with his son (Ludvig Martin) in Barnes (located on the Western outskirts of Fargo) at the time of the 1920 Census. This was about 7 miles from where Lena was living at the time (see map below). He was still living in Barnes at the time of the 1930 census, so that is why Inger Helene\u2019s body was transferred to Fargo when she died in 1929.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rayson.us\/aehanson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Fargo_Locations_II-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"399\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rayson.us\/aehanson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Fargo_Locations_II-1024x399.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3383\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rayson.us\/aehanson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Fargo_Locations_II-1024x399.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.rayson.us\/aehanson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Fargo_Locations_II-300x117.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.rayson.us\/aehanson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Fargo_Locations_II-768x299.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.rayson.us\/aehanson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Fargo_Locations_II-1536x599.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.rayson.us\/aehanson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Fargo_Locations_II-2048x798.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What about Petra Necholena Hanson&#8217;s Contact?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The person who contacted Petra about her mother was either a friend\/neighbor, or else she was an employee at the hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dena was living in Verona with Inger Helen when she was committed to the hospital in August 1915.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>She was married (to Leo Oliver Ness) in Moorhead, Clay, Minnesota on April 5 1919.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Her first son (Howard) was born in Berlin, La Moure, North Dakota on 16 June 1919. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>She and Leo were living in Badger Township, La Moure County, North Dakota at the time of the 1920 US Census.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Phyllis (her first daughter) was born in Berlin, La Moure, North Dakota on 1 September 1921.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Her next two children (Lloyd and Leo) were born in Iowa in 1923 and 1924.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Betty Lou and Harold were born in Clyde, Cavalier, North Dakota in 1927 and 1929.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>She and Leo were living in Lansing Township, Towner County, North Dakota at the time of the 1930 US Census.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It does not appear that Ragnvold or Lena lived anywhere near Dena at the time Inger Helen was incarcerated in Jamestown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore, it is likely that the person who contacted Dena was in all probability an employee at the hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I reached out to the Riverside cemetery again (in May of 2024) to see if their records revealed any more information about this mystery, and their response indicates that Lena Hanson most likely was not involved in Inger Helene&#8217;s burial:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The records for single grave sites weren&#8217;t always recorded well. All I know is in 1937 when Ragnvold passed away Lena Hanson purchased that grave for him. She paid a total of $175<\/p>\n<cite>Riverside Cemetery Association Email dated 23 May 2024<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although Olena was in her 3rd marriage at the time of her mothers death and was the wife of Charles Hegardt, it is possible that she identified herself as\/was known as Lena Hanson when she purchased the plot. It is also possible that she anticipated the death of her father and purchased two plots when Inger Helene died in 1929. When Hans died in 1932 he was buried near his brother Benjamin in Fort Ransom, eliminating the need for a plot in Fargo. So conceivably, the second lot could have been available when Ragnvold died in 1937.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Epilogue<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also went to the cemetery in Fargo and I found Grandma Inger&#8217;s grave.&nbsp; You had sent me photo, but it was wonderful to go myself.&nbsp; As soon as we stood over them, Uncle Harold [Harold Wayne Ness] said, &#8220;Grandpa [Leo Oliver Arthur Ness] bought this headstone&#8221;.&nbsp; We&#8217;ve had much discussion on this.&nbsp; As soon as he said this, it brought back&nbsp; memories of Grandpa Leo talking about buying headstones.&nbsp; I remembered him talking about it, but didn&#8217;t connect it with Inger Isaacson.&nbsp; So, when we returned to my little house in Egeland, I called my Uncle Bobby [Robert Ward Ness] and asked if he remember Grandpa ever buying headstones for anyone and if so, who.&nbsp; He answered that Grandpa bought one for Grandma&#8217;s Mom, which is Inger.&nbsp; Headstones were very important to Grandpa and he felt strongly that he needed to do it.&nbsp; Everyone remembers it happening in the 1950&#8217;s.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<cite>email from a 2nd cousin dated 13 octobre 2008<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rayson.us\/aehanson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Isakson_Inger_Hanson.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"924\" height=\"444\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rayson.us\/aehanson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Isakson_Inger_Hanson.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3502\" style=\"width:334px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rayson.us\/aehanson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Isakson_Inger_Hanson.jpg 924w, https:\/\/www.rayson.us\/aehanson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Isakson_Inger_Hanson-300x144.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.rayson.us\/aehanson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Isakson_Inger_Hanson-768x369.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 924px) 100vw, 924px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Inger Helene Andersdatter (my great grandmother) was the wife of Hans Emahus Isakson.
