This small town located outside Frankfurt was home to the Kümpel (the name was changed to Kimbal) family prior to their emigration to the United States in 1847. They were reportedly part of a group of 16 or 18 families who left the region together and traveled to Walworth County, Wisconsin in the United States.
It is located about a mile to the West of Niederschmalkalden where the Amborn family lived.
